Shouty ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our macOS application.
Information We Collect
We do not collect any personal information. Shouty is designed with privacy as a core principle:
- Audio Data: Voice recordings are processed entirely on your device using Apple's built-in Speech Recognition. Audio is never transmitted to our servers.
- Transcriptions: Your transcribed text is stored locally on your device and never leaves your Mac.
- History: Transcription history is stored locally in your Application Support folder and is never uploaded or shared.
- Usage Statistics: Badge progress and usage stats are stored locally and never transmitted.
Third-Party Services
Shouty uses Apple's Speech Recognition framework for transcription. When using on-device recognition (default on macOS 13+), all processing happens locally. If on-device recognition is unavailable, Apple's speech recognition service may be used, subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
Data Storage
All data is stored locally on your Mac in the following location:
~/Library/Application Support/VoiceToClipboard/
This includes your transcription history, settings, and achievement progress. You can delete this data at any time through the app's Settings or by removing this folder.
Permissions
Shouty requires the following permissions to function:
- Microphone: Required to capture your voice for transcription.
- Speech Recognition: Required to convert speech to text.
These permissions are used solely for the app's core functionality and are never used for any other purpose.
Data Sharing
We do not share, sell, or transmit any of your data to third parties. Period.
Children's Privacy
Shouty does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The app does not collect any personal information from any users.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
